Now, Test Track was free and we’re telling you you can play with SCORM Cloud for free … but just what is free, what falls under paid accounts and how much does not free cost you? We don’t want to make this complicated at all, so here’s the skinny on just how SCORM Cloud pricing plays out.

How free works

The default selection when you first sign up for SCORM Cloud is the trial level account. This is where free lives. It’s designed to let you see how SCORM Cloud works by giving you access to all the features, but with limitations. If you just want to continue to test SCORM content or need a preview look, this is where you want to be.

Within the trial level, there are limits on how many registrations you can create, how much support you get and how many courses you can store. But, within those limitations, you can test your courses as often as you need to, send them out for others to see (up to 10) and keep up with new SCORM Cloud apps as they’re created.

How paid works

We’ve priced things to make sense compared to use of a full LMS or integrating an LMS with a SCORM player. Pricing is also set up to be an “as you need it” sort of deal. So you can bump up your account for those times when you have a lot of classes running and drop back down when you aren’t using it much.

You’ll get billed monthly to a credit card prior to the month of service. Limits on registrations are set by the type of account you pick when you sign up and we track them based on your app_id. Come and go as you please; your data and courses will stick around waiting for when you need them.

There are no fees outside of the monthly charge at the level you choose (as long as you don’t need support to get set up or create a specific implementation).

The “Even Bigger”
  • If you need more than 300 registrations, they get a lot cheaper. From 300 – 1000, they cost $0.50 each. From 1000 on, we charge only $0.25 per registration.
What’s a registration?

This is a rather key concept since it determines what level meets your needs. Essentially, it’s when SCORM Cloud tags a learner as belonging to a course. Apps do this at different times in the invite/launch process, but for figuring out just how many registrations you might need, consider anytime you send out an invite to someone as a registration.

Now, we know that no matter how well you plan, there are going to be times when your registration count might go over the limit of your plan. (Often, that’s a good thing because more people signed up for the class than you expected!) So we have a back-up plan in place where we charge you a flat fee per registration for any over your limit. Sound fair? You can get more detail about how that part actually works here.
